Parking

RISD does not have any parking available for students.  Like many cities, Providence has limited parking and parking is not particularly cheap.  Generally we encourage students not to bring a car.  RISDRides, Zipcars, and rideshare opportunities are plentiful around RISD, and so most students are better off avoiding the costs and hassle of having a car.

Students who require parking in Providence must seek parking through the city of Providence or private lots.

For day parking (not overnight), Metropark operates a number of lots near RISD: http://www.metroparkltd.com/

Overnight street parking permits may be available through the city of Providence for college students living off-campus. Unfortunately the city will not issue permits to students living in campus residence halls or houses: https://www.providenceri.gov/public-works/overnight-parking/

Downcity Parking operates a number of downtown parking lots (some offer monthly 24/7 parking passes): https://downcityparking.com/lotsandrates/
