Resident Advisor (RA)

An essential part of the Residence Life team, RAs are undergraduate or graduate students who live within an assigned community with a group of residents. RAs create and maintain an inclusive community by building genuine relationships with their residents.  RAs also positively influence residents’ growth and development by planning and implementing programs and community building activities.  RAs also provide emergency on-call coverage, can respond to emergencies, assist you with roommate issues, guide you through your courses and resources on campus, help you navigate a person issue, and serve as a resource for residents.

Advocate for Inclusion in Residence (AIR)

Each residential area has one AIR.  The AIR is an undergraduate or graduate student who works to strengthen the living‐learning environment and advance the creation of an inclusive community by building relationships with residents.  They plan and implement educational, cultural, social, and personal enrichment programs that promote dialogue, the ideals of social justice, and cultural awareness. AIRs are excellent resources on how to navigate identity in your work, issues in the classroom or within the residence hall, help navigating campus and finding your community on campus, as well as providing educational resources to further your understanding of identity and social justice.

Community Coordinator (CC)

A full-time, live-in professionals with a master’s degree in college student development, higher education administration, or a related field.  CCs oversee all aspects of community development and management in their respective residential area.  CCs take part in an emergency on-call rotation responding to after-hours crises and incidents.  CCs supervise Advocate for Inclusion in Residence (AIR), and a team of Resident Advisors (RAs). CC’s are your go-to person if you’re interested in leadership opportunities, you have an issue in the residence halls, want to get involved in the residence halls, have conduct issues, need help navigating personal issues, or need help identifying resources on campus to support your success.
